Suspect in custody in violent attacks in Old Town Portland, police say

On July 4, police arrested a woman in Old Town Portland following a violent spree that included threats, assault with a knife, and physical attacks on bystanders. The incident began around 7:30 p. m. when the suspect cut a man's hand, leading him to report to police for medical assistance. Witness Jenniffer Dieringer, who was with the woman earlier in a bar, indicated that the suspect was heavily intoxicated and made alarming threats.

After attacking a passerby, police intervened, using stun guns to subdue her. Dieringer noted that the woman was taunting officers before the altercation escalated. The suspect's identity and the specific charges she faces remain undisclosed. This incident highlights ongoing concerns about public safety and violence in urban areas. Local authorities are expected to address the rising incidents of violence in the community.
