Man with dementia found safe in North Portland

Timothy Clink, a 62-year-old man with dementia, was located safe in North Portland after a brief search by police. He left his home in the 1500 block of North Hayden Island Drive between 6 a. m. and 11 a. m.

on Friday, raising concerns due to his difficulty speaking. Clink had expressed interest in watching fireworks, specifically in an area between Southeast 82nd Avenue and Southeast 92nd Avenue. His description included white hair, a beard, and a large mole on his left cheek, and he was last seen wearing a gray/white t-shirt and gray sweatpants. After being reported missing, police appealed to the public for help in finding him. He was eventually found at North Kilpatrick Street and Denver Avenue, where a police officer gave him a ride home.

This incident underscores the critical role of community awareness in protecting vulnerable individuals. The swift response from law enforcement and the community's involvement contributed to a positive outcome.
