Craft beer sales fall for most top Oregon breweries

Portland, ORLocal News

Six of Oregon's top ten craft breweries experienced sales declines in 2024, with Rogue Ales and Full Sail Brewing Co. seeing significant drops of 18% and nearly 30%, respectively. This trend reflects challenges faced by breweries nationwide, including inflation and supply chain disruptions. In contrast, pFriem Family Brewers enjoyed a 22% increase in sales, while Fort George Brewery and Deschutes Brewery both reported growth of 9%. Sam Pecoraro, president of the Oregon Brewers Guild, stated that "Oregon breweries are facing major challenges with slumping sales and record closures.

" Since the pandemic began, Oregon has lost nearly 75 breweries and related establishments, with 35 closures occurring in the last year alone. The downturn signals a broader decline in the craft beer market, prompting calls for community support. Pecoraro highlighted the importance of summer sales to help breweries navigate leaner months. The situation underscores the urgent need for local patrons to support the struggling industry.
