Suspect arrested in deadly shooting in Downtown Portland

A shooting in Downtown Portland on Tuesday afternoon left one person dead and led to the arrest of a suspect. Law enforcement officials responded to reports of the shooting near SW 10th Avenue and SW Yamhill Street around 3:30 p. m. The suspect initially fled the scene but was arrested nearby shortly after. The shooting occurred outside the Central Library, prompting road closures and public transit disruptions.

A police spokesperson confirmed that the victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to injuries. The identity of both the victim and the suspect remains undisclosed. Authorities are investigating the incident while ensuring public safety in the area. The police stated that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
