2 young girls killed in head-on crash on Highway 101 in Clatsop County

On Thursday afternoon, a tragic three-car crash on Highway 101 in Clatsop County resulted in the deaths of two young girls, aged 15 and 12. The incident happened just before 1:30 p. m. when Ian Granville Hix, 30, of Seaside, Oregon, crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with a Honda CR-V driven by 76-year-old Phyllis Harding. Following that collision, Hix's truck struck a Nissan Rogue, seriously injuring its occupants, 57-year-old Charles Paul LeBlanc and his 52-year-old passenger, Jennifer Lyria LeBlanc.

The LeBlancs, residents of Albuquerque, New Mexico, were transported to the hospital alongside Harding, who also suffered serious injuries. Emergency responders closed Highway 101 for approximately seven hours to assist victims and investigate the crash site. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash, which has raised awareness about the dangers of highway driving. Local authorities urge drivers to remain vigilant and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies.
