Dozens of maltipoo dogs at south Sound Humane Society in need of forever homes
On June 5, animal control officers in Bonney Lake, Washington, responded to a barking complaint and found 32 maltipoo dogs in a home with unsanitary conditions. The homeowner admitted to being overwhelmed and willingly surrendered the dogs, avoiding the need for a warrant. All dogs were reported healthy and had current records, leading to their transfer to the Humane Society of Tacoma & Pierce County. The shelter is already at capacity with 80 dogs and 468 cats during its busiest cat season, complicating their operations. The maltipoos have been placed into foster homes and will gradually become available for adoption in the coming days.
Interested adopters must visit the shelter to complete necessary paperwork, which is processed on a first-come, first-served basis. This rescue highlights the ongoing challenges shelters face with animal overpopulation. Local animal control encourages community members to consider fostering or adopting to help alleviate the burden on shelters.
