Port Orchard, WALocal News

The City of Port Orchard Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing on May 6, 2025, at 6:00 PM to discuss the 2025 Comprehensive Plan amendment package. The hearing will occur at the Robert Geiger Council Chambers and will also be available via Zoom. Among the proposed amendments, the city plans to add the Sherman Avenue Stormwater Park Master Plan to Appendix B and update the Capital Facilities Element to reflect new infrastructure projects. Additionally, an applicant-initiated proposal aims to revise the Water Expenditures Table in the Capital Facilities Element to align with updated costs. Another significant proposal seeks to reclassify 13 parcels from Light Industrial to Residential 3, indicating a shift towards Medium-Density Residential zoning.

Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to provide input, which is vital for community engagement in local governance. For special accommodations, residents should contact the Department of Community Development at least five business days before the hearing. The Department also offers access to additional information and documents related to the proposed amendments on their website.
