Hydrant Flushing- City of Port Orchard

Port Orchard, WALocal News

The City of Port Orchard will conduct fire hydrant flushing from April 21, 2025, to improve water quality and maintain the integrity of its water system. This essential maintenance practice involves flowing water at high velocities to dislodge sediment and prevent corrosion in the pipelines. The flushing will take place over two weeks in a specific area, including Cline to Rockwell, starting from Kendall Street down to Bay Street. Residents may notice water flowing in the streets and could experience sediment in their home faucets during this period. If sediment is observed, it is advised to turn off all indoor faucets and run an outdoor hose bib or bathtub cold water tap until the water clears.

This procedure is crucial for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the water supply. For any inquiries, residents can reach the Public Works Department at 360. 876. 4991. This initiative highlights the city’s commitment to maintaining high water quality standards for its residents.
