SEPA DNS 2025 Comp Plan Amendment PO Number DCD

Port Orchard, WALocal News

The City of Port Orchard has issued a Determination of Nonsignificance (DNS) regarding its proposed amendments to the Comprehensive Plan for 2025. These amendments aim to enhance local infrastructure and zoning regulations, including the addition of the Sherman Avenue Stormwater Park Master Plan and revisions to the Capital Facilities Element. Furthermore, an applicant-initiated amendment seeks to correct outdated costs in the Water Expenditures Table while also proposing a significant zoning change for 13 parcels near SW Old Clifton Road. The lead agency has concluded that these proposed changes will not likely result in significant environmental impacts, thus negating the necessity for an Environmental Impact Statement. A public comment period is open until April 24, 2025, allowing residents to voice their opinions on the amendments.

Additionally, the city provides an appeal process for those wishing to contest the DNS, with appeals due by May 8, 2025. The proactive steps taken by the city in updating its Comprehensive Plan reflect a commitment to sustainable development and community engagement. Interested parties can find more details through the City of Port Orchard's Community Development department.
