Bethel Lincoln Mitchell Road Closure and Detour to Commence

Port Orchard, WALocal News

Starting July 8, 2024, Port Orchard, WA, will see road closures at the intersections of Bethel Avenue, Lincoln Avenue, and Mitchell Road due to the construction of roundabouts designed to improve traffic safety and efficiency. The ongoing project aims to reduce collisions and enhance traffic flow in this busy area. Phase 1 focuses on constructing a roundabout at the Lincoln and Mitchell intersection, while subsequent phases will address improvements at the Bethel and Lincoln intersection and the removal of the Bethel-Mitchell ‘Y’. Since mid-June, Puget Sound Energy has mobilized traffic control to facilitate the undergrounding of power and communication utilities ahead of the roundabout construction. A detour will be implemented during the construction process, with the goal of reopening the roads before Labor Day weekend to minimize disruption.

Residents are encouraged to contact the public works department for inquiries or to submit comments related to the project. This initiative reflects the city's commitment to enhancing transportation infrastructure and community safety. The improvements promise to create a more efficient traffic system for local residents and visitors alike.
