Teenager killed in early morning ATV crash in north Phoenix; passenger hurt

A tragic accident involving an ATV in north Phoenix resulted in the death of 17-year-old Edith Ochoa early Monday morning. The crash occurred around 4 a. m. near Beardsley Road and 47th Avenue, close to Loop 101. The Phoenix Police Department reported that the 2017 Can-Am ATV was the only vehicle involved in the incident.

Upon arrival, emergency responders found Ochoa unresponsive and she was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. A 20-year-old male passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Witnesses indicated that the ATV was found tipped over on its side, leading authorities to believe Ochoa lost control while driving west on Beardsley Road. Investigators are currently looking into the details surrounding the crash. The tragic event highlights the risks associated with ATV use, particularly among young drivers.
