Shooting near dorms at University of Arizona leaves 1 student dead

A devastating shooting incident unfolded late Sunday night near the Arizona-Sonora dormitories at the University of Arizona, resulting in the death of a college-age male student. The victim, identified as a Pima Community College student, was found lying next to a car by authorities who responded to the scene shortly after reports of gunfire were received around 11 p. m. Witnesses indicated that the shooting occurred during a fight at the volleyball courts, not far from the dorms, leading to a chaotic scene as bystanders attempted to assist the victim. Despite the efforts of university police and medical personnel to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooter, described as a 6-foot-tall man aged between 19 and 25, is still at large, prompting authorities to increase patrols and investigate the incident thoroughly. Witnesses also noted the suspect might be of Middle Eastern or Hispanic descent and was seen carrying a small black handgun. The situation has left the university community in shock, and officials are urging anyone with information to come forward. The investigation remains active as police work to locate the suspect and ensure campus safety.
