The U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded a $2. 5 million Choice Neighborhoods Supplemental Grant to support the revitalization of Phoenix's Edison-Eastlake neighborhood. This grant will build upon the previous $30 million investment made in 2018, which has already led to significant improvements in the area.

The funding will help develop new housing, enhance public spaces, and expand community services, creating a vibrant and mixed-income community. Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego praised the collaboration with HUD, stating that this investment will further the city's efforts to create inclusive environments for all residents. District 8 Councilwoman Kesha Hodge Washington emphasized the neighborhood's rich history and the community's aspirations for beautification and revitalization. The comprehensive plan includes replacing 577 outdated public housing units with over 1,000 modern homes and improving neighborhood amenities like parks and community centers. Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Richard Monocchio noted that this grant represents a journey of renewal and hope for the community.

The revitalization of Edison-Eastlake is positioned to improve the quality of life for all residents while ensuring that the neighborhood's unique character is preserved.
