Local authorities launched a search for Green after determining he likely was near the Pinal Creek bed when the floodwaters rose. He contacted his sister, Darlene Jonovich, on September 30, unaware that he was reported missing. The flooding resulted in at least three fatalities and caused severe damage to homes and numerous downtown businesses. Jonovich described her brother as a "lost soul" who has faced significant challenges since losing his business and family life.

She mentioned that he has been looking for affordable housing. Search and rescue crews remain active, using cadaver dogs to ensure no victims have been overlooked in the cleanup efforts. The community's response highlights the impact of the flooding on local residents and the urgency of ongoing recovery efforts.
