Armed man fatally shot by Chandler police after they say he tried to enter home

Chandler police fatally shot a man who attempted a home invasion and rammed police vehicles during a chase on August 21. Officers responded to a 911 call at 6:50 a. m. from a resident reporting an unknown man trying to enter their home. The suspect fled in his vehicle, making contact with several patrol cars before colliding with a civilian vehicle.

After officers boxed in his car, the man fled on foot while armed with a rifle, ignoring police commands. An officer-involved shooting occurred, and the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. The Mesa Police Department is investigating as part of the East Valley Incident Response Team. Multiple shots were fired, including both lethal and less lethal ammunition, but no officers were injured. Authorities advised the public to avoid the area during the investigation.
