Philadelphia City Planning Commission seeks Community Partners to help engage public in Philadelphia2050 Planning Together

Philadelphia, PALocal News

The Philadelphia City Planning Commission seeks Community Partners to enhance public engagement for the Philadelphia2050: Planning Together initiative, which aims to update the city’s comprehensive plan. Applications are open until May 30, 2025, offering compensation of $15,000 for 9-month terms and $30,000 for 18-month terms. Octavia Howell, Executive Director of the Commission, noted the importance of utilizing Philadelphians' experiences to inform actionable recommendations. The current comprehensive plan, Philadelphia2035, was adopted in 2011 and requires updates due to significant changes in the city, including increased neighborhood investments and responses to unprecedented flood events. The Commission will collaborate with eight community organizations to gather feedback and ensure alignment with local goals.

Community Partners will be trained to facilitate engagement events and analyze resident feedback. The initiative reflects the city's commitment to adapting to evolving challenges concerning vacant land and aging infrastructure. A virtual information session will take place on May 15, 2025, to assist potential applicants.
