Updating Zoning along Manayunks Main Street

Philadelphia, PALocal News

The Philadelphia City Planning Commission seeks community feedback to update the Manayunk Neighborhood Commercial Area Overlay District, which regulates commercial development in the area. Recent changes, such as new construction and evolving demographics, necessitate these updates to better meet local needs while preserving the neighborhood's charm. The commission invites residents to participate in a survey by May 12 and attend a community meeting scheduled for May 22, 2025, at the Venice Island Performing Arts Center. This meeting aims to gather insights on desired amenities and improvements. The Manayunk NCA covers four areas, regulating aspects like building height and landscaping to ensure new developments align with the neighborhood's character.

Access to materials from community meetings will be provided online. Engaging the community is vital to ensuring Manayunk remains a thriving place for residents and visitors alike.
