City launches matching grant program with services to support life sciences commercialization

Philadelphia's Department of Commerce has introduced a matching grant program specifically for life sciences companies that received Phase 1 or Phase 2 SBIR or STTR grants from the federal government in 2022 or later. The program offers tailored assistance, with Phase 1 recipients eligible for up to $20,000 and Phase 2 recipients for up to $50,000. The application deadline is set for June 20, 2025, at 11:59 p. m. This initiative is unique in Pennsylvania, representing the only city-led SBIR/STTR matching grant program.

Companies must be located in Philadelphia and demonstrate a commitment to commercialization in the life sciences sector. Required application materials include federal grant numbers, amounts, and documentation. The Philadelphia Department of Commerce will assist selected applicants with a range of services designed to foster growth.
