Rebuild Celebrates A New Chapter in Southwest Philadelphia with the 13.2 Million Renovation of Paschalville Library
Paschalville Library in Philadelphia, a vital community hub since 1915, celebrated its reopening following a $13. 2 million renovation funded by the city's Rebuild program. Mayor Cherelle L. Parker noted that the investment represents a commitment to both the facility and the individuals it serves. The extensive upgrades include new HVAC systems, ADA-compliant features, and a media hub, enhancing accessibility and programming.
City Council President Kenyatta Johnson emphasized the library's potential to inspire local youth and equip them with essential skills. The renovation received support from the Knight Foundation, which contributed $200,000, alongside other grants totaling $225,000. Joanna McClinton, Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, praised the library's role in providing opportunities for families in Southwest Philadelphia. This project marks a significant milestone, as it is the sixth library renovated under the Rebuild initiative this year, totaling over $37 million in investments. The transformation blends historic character with modern amenities, ensuring the library remains a community cornerstone for future generations.
