Rebuild Philadelphia, City and State Officials, and Community Ventures Celebrate Grand Opening of 1.9 Million Investment at Piccoli Playground
Philadelphia officials inaugurated the newly renovated Piccoli Playground in Juniata Park, marking the completion of a $1. 9 million project funded by the City’s Rebuild program. The enhancements include modernized facilities, improved accessibility, and new recreational features such as an all-wheels track and updated sports courts. Mayor Cherelle L. Parker highlighted the project as evidence of the City’s commitment to investing in public spaces that serve families and children.
Councilmember Quetcy Lozada expressed the importance of the playground in the community's history, promising a lasting space for future memories. The renovation, completed in four months, received financial support from the Department of Economic and Community Development and Community Ventures. Aparna Palantino, Director of the Capital Program Office, praised the swift turnaround and community collaboration. Rebuild represents a historic investment of over $500 million aimed at uplifting neighborhood parks and recreation centers throughout Philadelphia.
