Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh Hosts Guru Vandana to Honor Morris County Educators

On May 31, 2025, the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) held its annual Guru Vandana event in Parsippany, honoring 27 local educators for their contributions. Students personally invited teachers who had a meaningful impact on their education, fostering a spirit of gratitude and respect. Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill's office issued certificates of recognition to the honored teachers, emphasizing their vital role in shaping young minds. The event opened with the lighting of an oil lamp, symbolizing enlightenment, followed by cultural activities like henna art and traditional attire displays. The Teacher Felicitation Ceremony featured the "Guru Puja" ritual, where students applied a tilak and sought blessings from their teachers.

HSS promotes values such as discipline and community service, aiming to instill these principles in young people. The organization has over 250 chapters across the U. S. , focusing on cultural education and outreach. This event highlights the importance of teachers in fostering holistic development and character in students.
