Morris County Correctional Police Officers Promoted
Sheriff James M. Gannon presided over a promotional ceremony at the Morris County Correctional Facility on June 11, where four officers received advancements in rank. Tim Stewart was promoted to Captain, having joined the Morris County Sheriff’s Office in 2003 and distinguished himself with awards such as the Expert Shooter Award. Stewart has also played a significant role in the Crisis Negotiation Team since 2011, demonstrating leadership in high-stress situations. Lieutenant Brian Kooger, promoted from Sergeant, has worked in various capacities since becoming a Corrections Officer in 2006, contributing to several specialized teams.
Sergeant John Baena, who was moved up after serving in the U. S. Army, has earned recognition for his commitment to public service. The promotions reflect the department's focus on recognizing the skills and dedication of its personnel.
