Barberio Administration Approves Retail Cannabis Sales in Parsippany

Parsippany, NJLocal News

The Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Council enacted Ordinance 2025:08, allowing retail cannabis operations in select zones along major roadways. This decision follows New Jersey’s legalization of recreational marijuana for adults 21 and older, approved by voters in 2020. Retail cannabis establishments must adhere to strict regulations, including minimum lot sizes and restrictions on visible cannabis imagery. The ordinance also permits cannabis cultivators, manufacturers, and distributors in designated industrial areas. Officials aim to create a balanced approach, fostering economic growth while ensuring community safety.

Setbacks will prevent retail operations within 100 feet of residential zones, and drive-throughs are prohibited. The ordinance reflects a broader trend among municipalities in New Jersey embracing the cannabis industry. It will take effect after publication and filing with the Morris County Planning Board.
