Barberio Posts then Pulls False School Funding Claims

Parsippany, NJLocal News

Mayor James Barberio's recent video claiming a revenue-sharing agreement with the Parsippany-Troy Hills Board of Education was deleted shortly after its release, leading to public outcry. According to multiple sources, no such agreement is currently in place, despite a draft MOU shared by Barberio's office in May. Board President Alison Cogan stated the board is open to collaboration but is focused on ensuring that any future deal includes protections for school funding. Councilman Justin Musella harshly criticized Barberio, suggesting he has misled the community. The controversy highlights ongoing concerns regarding transparency and communication from the township's leadership.

Residents fear that without proper agreements, school funding could be jeopardized as student populations grow. Currently, there are no additional funds allocated to schools as a result of the proposed deal. Stakeholders are eager for clarity in future discussions to secure an enforceable funding path.
