PurpleStride New Jersey Exceeds Fundraising Goal in Powerful Show of Community Support

Parsippany, NJLocal News

PurpleStride New Jersey raised $586,800 on April 26, surpassing its initial goal of $530,000. The event, organized by the New Jersey Affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN), saw participants from across the state come together in support of pancreatic cancer awareness. This year's walk was part of a larger national effort, with nearly 60 events taking place on the same day. Debbie Schupper, the volunteer Affiliate Chair, remarked on the significance of local action in making a national impact. Participants wore purple and held signs to honor loved ones affected by the disease, which has a five-year survival rate of just 13 percent.

Top fundraising teams included "Love for Lauren V," which raised $82,045, and individual fundraiser Tracey Early, who contributed $72,578. The event highlighted the urgent need for continued support and awareness, as pancreatic cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U. S. Funds raised will contribute to PanCAN’s national goal of $17 million.
