Puddingstone Community Club to Host Mayoral Debate Musella Set to Attend, Barberio Remains Unresponsive

Parsippany, NJLocal News

The Puddingstone Community Club will host a critical mayoral debate on May 21 at 7:30 p. m. in Parsippany. Republican Councilman Justin Musella and Democrat Pulkit Desai have confirmed their attendance, while incumbent Mayor James Barberio remains unresponsive to the invitation. Musella, advocating for transparency, aims to address concerns over local development, taxes, and town services.

The debate will feature a structured format, including opening statements, moderated questions, and audience participation. Attendance is limited to 80 guests due to fire code regulations, but the event will also be livestreamed to reach a wider audience. The League of Women Voters plans a separate forum on May 15, although sources indicate Barberio prefers a virtual format for that event. Musella and Barberio will compete in the Republican primary on June 10, with the winner set to face Desai in the general election this November. The debate represents an important opportunity for public engagement amid growing calls for accountability from local leaders.
