The Friends of Lake Hiawatha celebrates its tenth anniversary, emphasizing community engagement and beautification efforts. The organization initially collaborated with local merchants to enhance North Beverwyck Road, purchasing holiday decorations that included snowflake lights and lighted wreaths. As part of their ongoing efforts, they introduced flower barrels that display seasonal blooms, creating a vibrant atmosphere. In addition to beautification, the Friends sponsor a Scarecrow Contest, where local Girl Scout troops compete for prizes, fostering creativity and community involvement. Winterfest, another popular event, features Santa Claus arriving on a fire truck, giving children candy canes and raffle tickets for bicycles.

These initiatives have attracted families from various parts of Parsippany, reinforcing the community's spirit. The organization faced challenges during the pandemic but aims to resume activities this year. Current members remain dedicated to continuing the organization’s mission of enhancing local community connections.
