Morris County will host its Annual Veterans Day Ceremony on November 5, 2025, at 6:30 p. m. in the Commissioners’ Public Meeting Room in Morristown. This year, the ceremony will honor seven local veterans with Distinguished Military Service Medals and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the U. S.

Marine Corps. A special tribute will recognize Cpl. Charles Fern Hopkins, Sr. , a Civil War Medal of Honor recipient, with a framed Resolution of Honor presented posthumously. Artifacts related to Hopkins will be displayed, including his Medal of Honor, on loan from his great-grandson, who will accept the resolution on his behalf.

The public is encouraged to attend, and seating is limited, so early arrival is advised. The event will also be livestreamed on the county’s website and Facebook page. In conjunction with the ceremony, Morris County promotes Operation Green Light, calling on residents to display green lights from November 4 through November 11 to honor veterans. Commissioner Director Tayfun Selen highlighted the campaign as a powerful way to show support for the estimated 200,000 service members transitioning to civilian life each year.
