Cogan, Shappell, and Shah Win Seats on Parsippany Board of Education

Alison Cogan, Michelle Shappell, and Dhaval Shah won seats on the Parsippany-Troy Hills Board of Education, receiving 7,379, 7,185, and 5,196 votes, respectively, in an election that saw a total of 33,720 votes cast. Other candidates included Lamia R. Elharairi, Jack S. Raia, and Susy Golderer, while 180 write-in votes were also recorded. Mayor James R.

Barberio narrowly secured re-election against Democratic challenger Pulkit Desai by just over 200 votes, with Barberio earning 9,542 votes (50. 39%). The Town Council race resulted in wins for both Democratic candidates, Matt Kavanagh and Diya Patel, leading to a council composition of 2 Republicans and 3 Democrats—the first such split since the 1970s. The close mayoral race and the Democratic sweep reflect a shift towards more competitive elections in Parsippany. Voter turnout reached 57.

41%, with 221,126 ballots cast out of 385,139 registered voters across Morris County. Election results remain unofficial as timely postmarked mail-in ballots and provisional ballot results are still pending. Updates will continue until all ballots are counted and certified.
