Brooklawn Cross Country Teams Capture Greater Morris Group 3 Titles

Brooklawn Middle School's Boys and Girls Cross Country teams triumphed at the Greater Morris Junior High School Group 3 Championships, each winning the championship trophy. The Boys team scored 69 points, edging out Central by 11 points, while the Girls team accumulated 59 points, topping Valleyview by 5 points. Joe Antonelli's 3rd-place finish led the boys, with Andrew Frei in 5th and Akshaj Pathak in 18th. The girls were anchored by Alexis McGee, who finished 2nd overall, supported by Clara Paniccia (11th) and Payton Lewis (12th). This season marks the first for coach Tom Metz at Brooklawn, after leading the PECC youth running program until 2020.

Notably, several of the runners he coached as young athletes are now part of his championship team, illustrating a significant connection in Brooklawn athletics. The success of both teams reflects a strong running program at the school, fostering talent and competitiveness among its athletes. The championship victories are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the athletes and their coach.
