The Parsippany Zoning Board has scheduled a meeting on October 22, 2025, to discuss a proposed apartment complex at 879 South Beverwyck Road, affiliated with the Islamic Community Cultural Center. This meeting will take place at 7:30 p. m. at Parsippany High School, mirroring the location of the initial public meeting held on April 2, 2025. Residents are encouraged to attend, as their turnout is seen as a measure of community concern regarding the development.

In a separate incident, William H. Schmieding, 70, has been charged with multiple offenses, including Aggravated Assault, after a firearm he mishandled discharged, injuring an 89-year-old woman. The incident occurred on October 20 at Frank’s Pizza in Flanders, where Schmieding accidentally shot the victim in the left leg while attempting to clear his handgun. The victim has been reported in stable condition after receiving treatment at a local hospital. Schmieding is currently detained in the Morris County Correctional Facility, awaiting court proceedings as the investigation continues.

Authorities are seeking any additional information related to the case from the public.
