Man Sentenced for Luring, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Attempted Endangering, and Attempted Aggravated Sexual Assault

Brian Stewart, 43, was sentenced to 15 years in New Jersey State Prison following his conviction for multiple sexual offenses against minors. A jury found him guilty of charges including Luring and Attempted Aggravated Sexual Assault after a three-day trial that concluded on May 23, 2025. The Honorable Robert M. Hanna, J. S.

C. , delivered the sentence on September 26, 2025, and Stewart's convictions are subject to the No Early Release Act, which mandates he serve 85% of his sentence before being eligible for parole. He will also be required to register under Megan’s Law and adhere to Parole Supervision for Life upon release. The investigation began on March 22, 2024, when the Boonton Township Police Department received a referral regarding child exploitation on the internet. Authorities revealed that Stewart engaged in inappropriate online conversations with individuals he believed to be children and attempted to lure them for sexual purposes.

Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll acknowledged the collaborative efforts of various law enforcement agencies that contributed to the investigation and prosecution. Assistant Prosecutors Alyssa DiSturco and Samantha Polizzi, along with Detective Michael Thompson, played significant roles in securing the conviction.
