A 12-year-old boy was hospitalized after a serious accident involving an electric scooter and a Subaru in Parsippany on September 24. The juvenile was riding in the westbound lane of Halsey Road when he crossed into oncoming traffic and was struck by a 2014 Subaru Impreza at approximately 7:15 a. m. The driver of the Subaru stopped immediately, and the child, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to Morristown Medical Center for further treatment. Authorities stated that the speed of the Subaru does not appear to be a contributing factor, and the incident is under investigation.

This incident raises concerns about the safety of electric scooters and the need for increased awareness among both riders and drivers. Local officials may consider reviewing traffic regulations or safety measures to prevent such accidents in the future. The community is urged to prioritize safety for young riders in light of this incident. Increased education on safe riding practices could help mitigate future risks.
