Morris County to Host 24th Annual 911 Remembrance Ceremony

Morris County will host its 24th Annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on September 7 at 6:00 p. m. at the Morris County 9/11 Memorial in Parsippany-Troy Hills. Keynote speaker Rudy Sanfilippo, a former firefighter who was among the first responders at the South Tower, will lead the event. He survived the collapse and later coordinated support for firefighters and their families during the recovery efforts.

The ceremony will include a procession of police, fire, and EMS personnel, along with a candle lighting and the reading of names of the 64 Morris County residents lost in the attacks. Musical tributes will be performed by local groups, including the Police Pipes and Drums of Morris County and the Morris Choral Society. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs as seating is limited, and parking will be available at the Morris County Department of Human Services with shuttle service provided. This remembrance honors the nearly 3,000 lives lost during the September 11 attacks, emphasizing the local impact of the tragedy. The event will also be livestreamed on Facebook for those unable to attend in person.
