Local Veterans Celebrated at Annual Veterans Appreciation Day

Over 100 attendees gathered at the Second Annual Veteran Appreciation Day at Watnong VFW Post 3401 to honor Morris County veterans. County officials, including Commissioners Thomas Mastrangelo and Christine Myers, emphasized the importance of recognizing veterans' contributions year-round. The event featured the Morris County Veterans Compendium, which documents local veterans' stories from the Revolutionary War to recent conflicts. The planning office actively seeks submissions from veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan, marking the 25th anniversary of the Global War on Terror. Attendees were informed about year-round support services provided by the Morris County Veterans Services Office, including counseling and legal help.

A new veterans support group, led by a U. S. Marine, will begin at the County College of Morris in mid-September. The event was hosted by multiple local organizations, with a buffet provided by Portofino’s Restaurant. Recognition awards were presented to individuals for their dedication to veteran services, underscoring community support for local service members.
