Rockaway Man Charged with DWI After Parsippany Motor Vehicle Stop

John W. Fessman, 40, of Rockaway, faces serious charges including Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) after a police stop in Parsippany on July 26. Officer Alex Cavaluzzo initiated the stop after witnessing Fessman make an improper turn and detected a strong odor of alcohol upon approaching the vehicle. Fessman showed multiple signs of impairment and could not present a valid driver's license. Following failed field sobriety tests, he was arrested and taken to Montville Police Headquarters, where he was read his rights.

After a malfunction of the breathalyzer, he was moved to Boonton Police Headquarters, where he again refused to provide breath samples. In addition to DWI, Fessman faces charges for refusal to submit breath samples and several traffic violations. His case highlights ongoing concerns regarding impaired driving in the community. Fessman has been released to a responsible party and is scheduled to appear in court on September 4.
