Parsippany Women Bring Comfort and Care to Seniors with Adopt a Grandparent Program

Parsippany, NJLocal News

The “Adopt a Grandparent” program in Parsippany, founded by Jennifer Lembo and Dawn King, aims to support local seniors who lack family and financial assistance. Originating in 2017, the initiative provides essential services, including lawn care and heating oil support, funded through community donations and partnerships with local businesses. Jennifer's personal experience with her grandmother in a nursing home inspired her to create a program that addresses the loneliness and needs of elderly residents. Recently, Anthony’s Landscaping provided discounted services to a senior resident, exemplifying the community's support. With the holiday season approaching, the program seeks to expand its outreach and encourage more local businesses to get involved.

Donations can be made at Jennifer's salon, where funds will help seniors with their winter oil tank needs. The program operates on a straightforward model, allowing seniors or their caregivers to request help directly. This initiative reflects a strong community commitment to ensuring no senior is forgotten in Parsippany.
