The Kiwanis Club of Greater Parsippany kicked off Child Abuse Prevention Month by establishing pinwheel gardens, beginning with a display at Town Hall. Mayor James Barberio plans to issue a Proclamation on April 4 to officially designate April as “Child Abuse Prevention Month. ” The campaign's theme, “Growing a Better Tomorrow for All Children, Together,” underscores the community's role in fostering safe environments for children. Pinwheels will adorn various locations in Parsippany and Lake Hiawatha throughout April, symbolizing the collective effort to ensure children thrive. According to statistics, 3.

6 million cases of child abuse were reported in the U. S. last year, with five children dying daily due to abuse or neglect. Karen DeChristopher from Kiwanis emphasized the importance of education in recognizing abuse signs and supporting local advocacy centers. The initiative aims to break the silence surrounding child abuse and encourage community involvement.

By raising awareness, the Kiwanis Club hopes to empower individuals to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children.
