The grand opening of the Susan O’Donnell Head Start Headquarters celebrated the impact of the recently retired executive director, whose leadership transformed early childhood education in Morris County. The facility, featuring four new classrooms, marks a significant renovation and coincides with the 60th anniversary of the Head Start initiative in the county. Commissioner Christine Myers highlighted O’Donnell’s contributions, stating she "elevated" the program during her tenure. Enrollment doubled, and both the Dover and Morris Plains sites earned five-star ratings from Grow NJ Kids, the only Head Start locations in New Jersey to achieve this distinction. O’Donnell has been a dedicated community advocate, serving on various boards and committees since 2008.

State Assemblywoman Aura Dunn and local officials presented honors recognizing her contributions to local families. The celebration also introduced Juan Fernandez as the new executive director, who committed to building on O’Donnell’s legacy. The mission of Head Start Community Program of Morris County is to support child development and school readiness for vulnerable children in the community.
