Davon Fields, 46, has been sentenced to eight years in New Jersey State Prison for his involvement in a November 2024 arson at a Boonton commercial warehouse. Fields pled guilty to aggravated arson, burglary, theft, and criminal mischief after evidence linked him to the scene of the fire and a scrapyard where he sold stolen copper. The fire, which caused significant damage and involved the theft of $233,000 worth of copper, was ruled as intentional, with investigators discovering signs of arson. The Boonton Fire Department responded to the blaze, extinguishing it with assistance from nearby fire companies. Prosecutor Robert Carroll commended the collaborative efforts of law enforcement in the investigation, which included forensic analysis of both physical and digital evidence.

Fields was arrested on January 13, 2025, after surveillance footage identified him entering the warehouse shortly before the fire. His sentence includes a four-year parole ineligibility, reflecting the seriousness of the crime. The case highlights the intersection of theft and arson, emphasizing the need for thorough investigative work in complex criminal cases.
