York city schools start new academic year with focus on community, family involvement
The School District of the City of York is emphasizing community collaboration as students return to school this week. Superintendent Dr. Andrea Barry-Brown announced initiatives designed to provide intensive support for students and staff, including the establishment of small learning communities. "You can expect to see small learning communities, cadres of schools working together," Barry-Brown stated, highlighting the district's commitment to fostering family engagement. The district kicked off the academic year with several events, welcoming students from 11 schools, from kindergarten through 12th grade.
This new approach aims to create networks that enhance educational experiences and improve student outcomes. The focus on collaboration reflects a broader trend in education to prioritize community involvement and support. Barry-Brown's leadership signals a shift towards more inclusive and responsive educational practices. By building strong relationships among schools and families, the district hopes to create a more supportive learning environment for all students.
