OPD Investigates Series of Crimes Including Vandalism and Burglary

The Oakland Police Department is investigating incidents from June 10, 2025, including vandalism during a vehicle collision at 34th Avenue and International Boulevard. While officers managed the collision scene, individuals threw objects at them, damaging a police vehicle. Simultaneously, a suspect set the involved vehicle on fire, which the Oakland Fire Department quickly extinguished. Later, OPD responded to a commercial burglary where around 30 suspects entered a business, leading to the arrest of one individual with stolen merchandise. OPD reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining safe spaces for peaceful protests and vowed to not tolerate violence or property destruction.

In compliance with city policy, OPD also does not assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement in enforcing civil immigration laws. The department's proactive approach aims to enhance community safety and uphold constitutional rights. These efforts are particularly significant in the context of ongoing national discussions regarding public safety and civil rights.
