Arrests Made in November 2021 and May 2025 Homicide Cases

The Oakland Police Department (OPD) arrested Deshaun Mays for the homicide of Sirjewel Brooks, which took place on May 23, 2025, in the 1400 block of 90th Avenue. Mays was apprehended on June 11, 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to resolve the case. In an unrelated investigation, Zocari Hicks was arrested for the November 20, 2021, homicide of Claijon Tolbert-Bundy, occurring in the 3900 block of Carrington Street. Hicks's arrest was made on June 4, 2025, by the Contra Costa Sheriff's Office, and authorities are continuing to search for additional suspects. The Alameda County District Attorney's Office has filed charges against both men for their respective crimes.
