She stated her priority is to lead the city out of its budget crisis by fostering a vibrant downtown and supporting small businesses. With over 30 years in public service, Lee made history as the first Black woman elected as Mayor of Oakland.

Her extensive background includes 27 years in Congress and pioneering roles in California's legislature. Lee attended Mills College and UC Berkeley, further grounding her connection to the community. Her leadership is expected to bring new hope and opportunities to Oakland’s youth and residents.
