Roberts Electric has been keeping the lights on for over a century

Oakland, CALocal News

Dan Pitcock, owner of Roberts Electric Co. (RECO), reflects on the marvel of electricity while celebrating the company's over a century of service in Oakland. He took over RECO from his father in 1992 and has since completed thousands of projects, including significant landmarks like the steeple of First Presbyterian Church. Pitcock emphasizes the critical role electricity plays in daily life, noting that society quickly devolves without it, as seen during recent power outages in Spain and Portugal. The company operates with 20 employees and has been recognized 14 times in the past 16 years as one of the top electrical contractors in the Bay Area.

RECO's resilience through various economic cycles demonstrates its commitment to local job creation and community improvement. Originally founded in the late 19th century, the business shifted from gaslighting to electrical installations under Pitcock's father's ownership in 1960. Pitcock takes pride in the craftsmanship of electrical work and the legacy he carries. His journey reflects a blend of personal growth and a deep appreciation for the trade's history and significance.
