Oakland restaurant Pierre Pierre hasnt paid rent in over a year, Tribune Tower landlord says

Oakland, CALocal News

The Oakland restaurant Pierre Pierre faces eviction after its landlord, HighBridge Equity Partners, issued a 3-day notice for over a year of unpaid rent. Co-owner Cleashaun Hill expressed deep concern that attention has shifted from the traumatic shooting incident to financial disputes. On May 2, a 31-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man were injured in the restaurant during a shooting, prompting Hill to launch a GoFundMe campaign to raise $50,000 for relocation, repairs, and support for affected families and employees. The landlord stated that the eviction notice was solely related to unpaid rent and not the shooting, emphasizing the restaurant's role in the community. Court records indicate that Pierre Pierre has faced additional financial difficulties, including a lawsuit related to unpaid bills.

Hill has been actively updating supporters on social media, sharing videos of the restaurant's aftermath and his feelings of disheartenment. The restaurant, located on the ground floor of the historic Tribune Tower, has seen various owners and financial troubles since 2007. HighBridge Equity Partners, which has also encountered financial issues, aims for Hill's restaurant to remain in the building and catch up on rent payments.
