Want to help the Oakland Ballers plant trees at Raimondi Park? Heres how you can root for the home team

Oakland, CALocal News

Volunteers can join the Oakland Ballers and local nonprofits this Sunday to plant 18 trees at Raimondi Park in West Oakland. The Ballers have committed $1. 6 million to reimagine the park as a joyful community space, emphasizing the importance of local involvement. Jenny Kauffman from Sidewalk Trees and Gardens noted that planting trees not only beautifies the area but also fosters community stewardship. The event will allow volunteers to help with moving trees, mulch, and watering, with gloves and tools provided.

This project is part of a broader city initiative to address West Oakland's historical lack of green space and improve environmental quality. The trees planted will include half water gums and half gold medallions, the latter blooming in spring. The collaboration aims to enhance air quality and combat urban heat effects. By engaging local volunteers, the initiative fosters a sense of investment and commitment to maintaining the newly planted trees.
