On April 4, 2025, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) commended its officers for their swift and effective response to a shooting incident in the 1900 block of Cortereal Avenue. The officers arrived at the scene shortly before 9:15 a. m. and discovered a male victim suffering from serious gunshot wounds and bleeding profusely. Officer S.

Wesley immediately applied pressure to the victim’s abdomen, while Officer P. Tenefrancia expertly placed a tourniquet on his leg, successfully stopping the bleeding before medical personnel arrived. Officer D. Fortin also played a vital role in stabilizing the victim until the Oakland Fire Department and Falck paramedics took over. Thanks to the decisive actions of these officers, the victim was transported to a local hospital and is currently in stable condition.
