COVID vaccine now universally available in California

Oakland, CALocal News

California and four other Western states have issued new recommendations for COVID-19 vaccinations, advocating for all residents over six months to receive the vaccine. The West Coast Health Alliance, formed to address gaps left by the previous administration, promotes evidence-based health guidance. Governor Gavin Newsom, alongside other governors, emphasized the need for clarity and credibility in vaccine recommendations. The new guidelines particularly urge vaccinations for toddlers, pregnant individuals, and those with underlying health conditions. Insurance providers will be required to cover all recommended vaccines, available through pharmacies and authorized health providers.

This move follows the signing of Assembly Bill 144, which mandates that state vaccine recommendations be grounded in scientific evidence. Officials aim to combat the perceived "weaponization" of federal health agencies and restore public trust in vaccines. Erica Pan, director of the California Department of Public Health, reaffirmed the commitment to using data and evidence to support healthy choices.
