Prescott Meats Deli in West Oakland market has closed

Oakland, CALocal News

Prescott Meats Deli has permanently closed in West Oakland's Prescott Market, just months after its debut, as indicated by its Yelp and Instagram pages. Known for its loaded Reuben sandwiches and pasture-raised meats, the deli garnered attention but ultimately could not sustain operations. In a separate development, Tomate Café in West Berkeley, a beloved institution serving all-day breakfast, is preparing to close for a change in ownership. Café staff confirmed the closure could occur within the week, although an exact date remains unannounced. Patrons are encouraged to enjoy the café's classic offerings, such as breakfast plates and housemade soups, before the transition.

The East Bay dining scene continues to face challenges, as evidenced by these closures. Prescott Meats was located at 1620 18th St. in Oakland, while Tomate Café is situated at 2265 5th St. in Berkeley. Updates regarding new vendors at Prescott Market and the future of Tomate Café are expected soon.
